Dr James Tan is a Consultant Urologist practising at both Mt Elizabeth and Gleneagles Medical Centre. He graduated from NUS in 1990. He completed his advanced training in Urology at the National University Hospital and Singapore General Hospital in 1999. He received the HMDP Fellowship in 2000 and was a Clinical Fellow in Urological Cancer Surgery at London, Canada till 2001. He was further trained in Laparoscopic Urology (Key-hole Surgery) at USA's Cleveland Clinic, Taiwan's Chi-Mei Medical Centre and France's Henri Mondor Hospital. In 2002, he underwent Robotic Surgery training at USA's Henry Ford Hospital.

Dr Tan has wide experience in managing benign and malignant conditions of the adrenal, kidney, bladder and prostate. He is the first in Singapore to perform the following complex laparoscopic operations:

Other than being an expert in using the Da Vinci robot to perform robotic prostate cancer surgery, he is skillful in performing percutaneous surgery, ureteroscopic and shockwave lithotripsy for urinary stones. He is also a gazetted kidney transplant surgeon.

Dr Tan was Head of Urology at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital before he left for private practice. He is currently Visiting Consultant at National University Hospital. Dr Tan is a member of the Singapore Urological Association, American Urological Association and the European Urology Association. He remains active in teaching and training and has conducted numerous workshops and performed live surgery in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, and Hong Kong.

Dr Tay Kah Phuan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982. He completed his Masters of Medicine in Surgery in 1989, and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1989.

Dr Tay started his training in Urology in 1989. He was awarded the Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship in 1992 to train at the Department of Urology, Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. He underwent sub-specialty training in prostate disease and stone management.

Dr Tay was appointed as a Consultant in Urology in 1996. He is involved in various medical committees within the hospital.

Dr Tay has numerous publications in peer reviewed local and international medical journals and book chapters. He has been invited to deliver lectures on many issues in Urology at local and regional meetings and continuous medical education activities.

Dr Tay will provide elective and emergency services in all aspects of Urology, with special interest in prostate disease, stones, and erectile dysfunction.
